What is a mastermind group?

by Janna

Since I joined my first mastermind group a few months ago, I have achieved some amazing results – increased productivity, great new contacts, made new friends and fantastic support for my business and ideas.

Masterminding, anyone?

Masterminding, anyone?

I started telling friends and colleagues about mastermind groups and was surprised at their reactions. Everyone seems to be interested in them, but a lot of people don’t know how to go about joining a mastermind group.

So, here I have collated some personal thoughts and experience with mastermind groups. Please feel free to share your own thoughts, experiences and ideas by leaving a comment.

What is Mastermind Group?

A Mastermind Group is a group of people that meet regularly, online or face-to-face, to support each other in achieving their goals. Goals could be anything – business, personal, health whatever your area of improvement is.

I mastermind with my group once a week, usually we do a conference call on Skype and every couple of weeks we meet in person. In my opinion, meetings in person are usually better but online meetings cut out travel time and since we meet on a weekly basis cutting out travel time makes it easier for everyone to keep this commitment.

What are the Benefits of Mastermind Groups

  • You have a group of people available to help you succeed.
  • You get the benefit of differing perspectives, input and feedback.
  • Your mastermind team can bring resources and connections to the table you might not have had on your own.
  • You receive accountability and inspiration from the group enabling you to maintain focus in achieving your goals.

Hi,
So how did you go about finding a master mind group? Do you search on the internet for “mastermind” I think you may end up with the 80′s quiz show!

Hi Darrell,

I have always formed mastermind groups through people I have met at events or workshops. That way we knew what each others interests and goals were and we were all committed to keeping the mastermind going. You could also go through your existing contacts to see whether anyone would be interested or post on a good quality forum to find like-minded people.
